Remington’s Heart is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. We are dedicated to raising awareness and helping families of babies and children with critical congenital heart defects.
Remington Craft was born February 1st, 2017 with HLHS a rare and incurable critical congenital heart defect. Her parents were given three options that no parent should have to choose from, but they chose to give her a chance at life through open-heart surgeries. Unfortunately, Remington passed away nearly two months later due to added complications. Remington’s Heart Foundation was formed in honor of Remington and we are dedicated to helping families of babies and children with congenital heart defects. Learn more about Remington.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO HELP?
Once a family is informed of their baby’s heart condition nothing else in the world matters to them, but the world doesn’t stop for them. Parents will take time off work or even lose a job in order to be by their child’s side day and night. The fear of losing a child is one of the worst things anyone can go through, but these parents will push that thought into the back of their mind as they watch their baby taken away into surgery.
Open heart surgery on a child is very risky and parents will be on edge waiting for updates. After surgery, their child will need time to recover. Parents will watch monitors, ask PICU nurses for updates from numerous tests, and wake up bright and early for morning rounds with several doctors.
The world doesn’t stop outside the hospital, bills will pile up and some families will be in jeopardy of losing their home, vehicle, and more. Some parents have other children who haven’t seen them as much. Life as they knew it has changed.
The Remington’s Heart Foundation helps to alleviate some of that stress by providing assistance for things such as:
- Meal Vouchers
- Fuel Cards
- Rent/Mortgage payment
- Vehicle payment
- Hotel Stays
- Travel Expenses (when a child has been transported & parents need to fly immediately.)
- Comfort & Support
When families need assistance, we verify the families needs. Once a family has been verified, Remington’s Heart will pay the debt or assistance directly to the company. We do not offer cash or funds directly to individuals.
We help simply because it’s the right thing to do. Heart Parents have enough to worry about and bills pile up while they take time off work to be there for their child in the hospital. Remington’s Heart Foundation is dedicated to helping reduce some of the stress through financial and emotional support.
